BIFMUNC is a beginner-focused workshop, designed especially for middle schoolers (5-8th grade) who have interest in history, global affairs, diplomacy, and public speaking. Whether delegates are completely new to MUN, or have attended a few conferences before, BIFMUNC provides a supportive learning environment to help them build confidence in their abilities, gain hands-on experience with research, and improve their public speaking skills.
Having participated in several conferences around the Bay Area, we felt that MUN was a great way to improve research and public speaking skills, as well as to meet new people and creating lasting memories with each other. With BIFMUNC, we wanted to create a safe space for beginners in middle school to start their Model UN journey, and to hopefully enjoy it, leading them to continue throughout high school, just like how many members of our team did.
What is Model UN?
Model UN is an educational simulation of global diplomacy and international relations at UN conferences, where students role-play as diplomats from different countries (or different time periods during historical crises). Students will get a chance to learn and practice valuable research skills, public speaking, and teamwork, as they try to resolve global issues such as agricultural pollution, famine, a lack of access to healthcare, or poor economic development.
